women's rolls during the civil war by owen and julia

When the men went off to war all the women would be left at home to watch over the kids and farm.  But the few that didn't have kids or a farm to watch over were able to have larger rolls in the war.
The most common roll of a woman in the war that they would be proud of and the men would allow and not be against would be a nurse.  But not a doctor because the men didn't believe that th
ey were smart enough to be anyone respectable.  A few of the luckier women might become spy's for one of the sides of the civil war.  And because of the men thinking that they were to dimwitted and harmless to go against them which made them the perfect spy.  Some might become soldiers and join the the army to help fight for what they believed in.
But no matter what they were a women looking over her children,a
nurse trying to save someone,a spy trying to get information or a women pretending to be a soldier to fight for what she believes in they all saw what a war could do to the Nation and how it could tear it apart and it showed them what the men thought of them and that they should fight for their rights to be apart of every thing and not just staying at home to watch over the kids.

Later rose O'Neil Greenhow was captured and was put under house arrest.
